Suspect arrested in stabbing of taxi cab driver
Honolulu police arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a taxicab driver with a sharp instrument early this morning in Moiliili.
Paramedics took the 59-year-old cab driver to the hospital in critical condition to the hospital following the 1:45 a.m. incident.
Police said the stabbing happened after the cab driver picked up the suspect in Waikiki. After being taken to a Kaimuki address as requested, the man then asked to be taken to a University area fast-food restaurant, police said. It was in a parking lot there that the stabbing occurred, police said.
The suspect, of no permanent address. was arrested shortly after the incident in the parking lot of the South Beretania Street address. He is being held pending a charge of attempted murder and several contempt warrants.
