Waialua brush fire reported under control

Firefighters have a brush fire under control in Waialua and hope to extinguish it by about 8 p.m. 

The fire was under control about two hours after it was reported at 5:31 p.m., said Fire Capt. Carlton Yamada.

About 25 firefighters were called this evening to battle a brush fire near the Waialua Beach Road and Cane Haul Road. and north of Waialua Elementary.

The fire caused traffic to slow along Wailua Beach Road and Crozier Avenue.

“It’s a mess,” said Karen Gallagher, a Waialua resident. 

Yamada said the fire caused no damage to structures.
