Medical Examiner identifies Pearl City pedestrian killed Thursday

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office identified Saturday the 34-year-old man who died after being hit by a van in Waimalu Thursday night as Ruffy Paguirigan of Pearl City.

Police said Paguirigan was crossing Kamehameha Highway in a marked crosswalk near Neal Blaisdell Park when he was struck by a 1996 Nissan Quest van, driven by a 36-year-old Pearl City man.

Paguirigan had head and internal injuries and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition, according to police.

He died at the hospital Friday evening. An autopsy will be done Monday.
