Closures in observance of Hawaii Statehood Day

Hawaii is observing Statehood Day.

The third Friday in August marks when President Dwight Eisenhower signed the proclamation that made statehood official in 1959.

It’s a holiday for state, judiciary and county offices. But it’s business as usual for federal offices.

Oahu’s public bus system will operate on a state holiday schedule and on-street parking will be free, except for meters along Waikiki’s Kalakaua Avenue and Kapiolani Park.
