Associate AD Carl Clapp is finalist for University of Montana job
MISSOULA, Mont. >> Associate University of Hawaii athletic director Carl Clapp is one of four finalists for the position of athletic director at the University of Montana.
The UM named the three finalists today and announced interviews will be held next week. Clapp is scheduled to speak at a forum on Monday.
Besides Clapp, the other finalists are Kent Haslam, the associate director for development with the UM Foundation; John Johnson, the senior associate director of athletics at Washington State and Chris King, athletic director at Texas-Pan American.
UM President Royce Engstrom says the university had a strong pool of candidates and the finalists are passionate about their work and exhibit strong leadership skills.
Clapp has worked at Hawaii since 2006 while Johnson has been at Washington State since 2004. He had previous athletic director jobs at Weber State and Eastern Washington.
Haslam has served in his role with the UM Foundation since 2006 while King has been at Texas-Pan American since 2009.
