Woman, 64, hurt in paragliding accident on Haleakala
A Maui ambulance crew aided an injured paraglider on the slopes of Haleakala Sunday morning.
The woman, 64, suffered injuries to her upper extremities, a county news release said.
The crew from Kula was dispatched to Crater Road, arriving about 10:20 a.m. to find the woman, a Kula resident, lying next to her gear.
While trying to land, she said, a gust picked up her paraglider and dropped her 30 feet onto the ground.
She was transported in serious but stable condition to a trauma team at Maui Memorial Medical Center, the county said.
