Victim in Makaha shooting dies
A shooting in Makaha on Wednesday night that killed a 26-year-old man has his neighbors terrified.
Lahaina Street neighbor Shirley Borje, 70, heard the commotion.“I was in my kitchen cooking rice, and all of a sudden I heard a gunshot and a commotion,” she said.
Borje learned her neighbor, who lived in the next apartment on Lahaina Street, had been shot.
The Medical Examiner’s office identified the 26-year-old Waianae man who died Thursday after being shot as Christopher Medeiros. A neighbor said the 23-year-old Waianae man accused of shooting Medieros in the head is a former friend of the victim.
The suspect was arrested Wednesday at a Lahaina street address in Makaha following the 8:15 p.m. incident. He remains in the police cellblock awaiting murder charges.
Medeiros was driven by a neighbor to the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center and later taken by ambulance to Queen’s Medical Center where he died on Thursday.
