Maui fire personnel aid boat with engine trouble
Maui firefighters, helicopter, boat, personal rescue craft and rescue crews responded to a disabled boat in the Kahakuloa cliffs area Thursday afternoon.
Fire crews responded to the 5:43 p.m. call and the boat was found at 6:21 p.m.
The Air 1 crew discovered the 15-foot vessel six miles northwest of Kahului Harbor and 200 yards offshore with two people on board, a fire official said in an e-mail.
The two Kahului men aboard, ages 51 and 29, were OK, but the boat was having engine trouble, the official said.
The fire rescue boat and rescue watercraft brought the boat back to Kahului Harbor.
