Kauai police raided a Lihue shop Monday, seizing illegal substances and drug paraphernalia.

Police and state narcotics agents seized illegal substances and drug paraphernalia from Dream Electronics Cigarette shop in Lihue on Monday morning.

Following a four-month long investigation, police served a search warrant at the shop at around 10:30 a.m. Monday with the assistance of two officers from the state Narcotics Enforcement Division. Items seized included synthetic cannabinoids (known as “Spice” or “K2”) synthetic ecstasy and synthetic cocaine in addition to several bongs, smoking pipes and other drug paraphernalia.

Synthetic cannabinoids, also known as “Spice” or “K2,” is a combination of herbs and spices typically sprayed with a synthetic compound similar to THC, a chemical compound in marijuana. Synthetic stimulants that is commonly referred to as “bath salts,” mimic the effects of cocaine and are sold in the form of powder, tablet or capsule.

The Kauai Police Department warned the public, particularly parents, of products such as synthetic cannabinoids and synthetic stimulants.
