Muggy, voggy Kona weather to replace trade winds

Enjoy today’s light showers and cooling trade winds while they last. The National Weather Service says the trade winds will be replaced by variable, and then Kona winds from the south that may bring muggy, voggy weather through the early part of next week.

Blame it on a weather system north of Kauai that is forecast to cut off the usual trade winds flow. Forecasters say humid and voggy conditions “are likely” towards the end of the week.

The computer models that forecasters use to predict weather trends vary on when Kona winds will begin to affect our weather. It could start on Wednesday. Another model predicts Kona weather toward the end of the week and yet another computer projection keeps light trade winds in the forecast.

For now, National Weather Service forecasters say we will have light winds tonight and Wednesday morning with winds turning southerly late Wednesday morning or in the early afternoon.

Forecasters says Wednesday should be mostly clear, but hazy skies are predicted starting Thursday.
