Man pulled from waters off Makaha identified

A man who died after running into trouble drowning in waters off a Makaha beach late Tuesday morning was identified by city medical examiners as Robert Wojcik, 63, of Lake Stevens, Wash.

Wojcik was snorkeling with other people shortly before noon when he became unconscious, police said.

The cause and manner of Wojcik’s death has been deferred pending further investigation.

The man may have suffered a medical condition which contributed to his death, a spokeswoman for the city Emergency Services Department said.

The vctim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:52 a.m., police said.
