Repairs to a broken 12-inch water main have closed lanes around the busy Beretania and Piikoi street intersection.

The Board of Water Supply is urging motorists to avoid the intersection streets through Thursday evening as crews continue repairs on the main.

Two left lanes on Piikoi Street, mauka of Beretania Street are closed as well as the left lane on Beretainia Street.

The pipe that broke was originally installed in 1935.

Two businesses are without water and a water wagon is set up near 1215 S. Beretania Street.

Work is expected to continue throughout the night.
