Hawaii island man arrested for allegedly setting fire to house he lives in

A Pahoa man was arrested today for setting fire to the house in which he lived after a domestic dispute Sunday night, Hawaii County police said.

The man, 45, and a woman, 41, left the house and were uninjured, police said.

Police said an investigation showed the man had threatened to set fire to the house.

The man was taken to Hilo Medical Center to treat a head injury unrelated to the fire and was later arrested. 

Police are asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed the fire to contact Detective Norbert Serrao at 961-2383. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call CrimeStoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
