A 60-year-old surfer was transported to a hospital after he was attacked by a shark today at a popular surf spot on Kauai’s west shore. 

At about 1:20 p.m., the surfer suffered a shark bite on his left foot while surfing at Infinities at Pakala Beach. He was transported to Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital in a private vehicle, according to Kauai County spokeswoman Sarah Blane. 

The surfer’s condition and extent of his injuries were immediately unknown. 

The shark was described as about 10 feet long. 

 Kauai crews will post warning signs at the beach.

The shark attack was the eleventh recorded this year in Hawaiian waters.
