Shark warning signs removed on Kauai
Warnings signs at Pakala Beach on Kauai were removed Thursday after officials observed no signs of sharks.
Signs were posted Wednesday after a 60-year-old Kalaheo man was attacked by a shark while surfing at a break called Pakala’s, also known as Infinities.
The surfer suffered a shark bite to his left foot. He was transported to Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital in a private vehicle.
The shark described to be about 10 feet long was likely a tiger shark.
The 60-year-old man was listed in stable condition following the attack. He was released from the hospital Wednesday night. The extent of his injuries wasn’t clear.
The shark attack was the third on Kauai and the 11th in Hawaii so far this year.
