Public memorial to be held for Inouye on Kauai
LIHUE >> Kauai residents will have an opportunity to pay their respects to the late Sen. Daniel Inouye next week.
Kauai County says a memorial service will be held at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihue next Friday.
Public visitation is set for 4 p.m. while the ceremony will start at 5 p.m.
County spokeswoman Beth Tokioka says the senator’s widow Irene Hirano Inouye will attend.
Inouye’s family is asking people not to bring flowers. The family asks those wanting to make a contribution instead donate to The Daniel K. Inouye Memorial Fund at the Hawaii Community Foundation.
Kauai Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. said earlier this week that Inouye spent part of his childhood on Kauai.
