Kauai police renew plea for help in finding suspect in tourist assault
Kauai police released another photo of a man suspected of throwing a Japanese tourist off a cliff in the Kalalau Valley on Dec. 16 as they renewed their request for the public’s help in finding Justin Wynn Klein.
The 31-year-old woman victim was released from the hospital on Wednesday, police said. She was admitted in critical condition following the incident.
A witness saw Klein throw the Fukuoka woman off a cliff in the remote Kalalau Valley on Kauai’s Na Pali coast on the afternoon of Dec. 16, police said.
“Our officers conducted a multi-agency search and sweep of the valley while continuing to investigate any and all tips received from the public,” Kauai Police Chief Darryl Perry said in a written news release. “While Klein has not yet been located, we have not given up and we’re asking the public not to give up. Your tips could help us bring this man to justice.”
The Kalalau Trail remains closed as the police search continues.
The image released by Kauai police Thursday shows Klein. 37. with a different hair cut and was taken in 2009.
