Hawaii women’s basketball junior forward Kamilah Martin was named the Big West Conference Player of the Week today for her efforts in helping the Rainbow Wahine go 2-1 in the Bank of Hawaii Invitational over the weekend.
It is the first BWC weekly honor for a Wahine hoops player since UH (4-7) rejoined the league in women’s sports this year.
The 5-foot-11 Martin averaged 13.7 points and 10.7 rebounds in wins over LIU Brooklyn and Cincinnati and a one-point loss against Alabama.
During the round-robin tournament, she passed Kim Everett for fourth in the program’s career rebounding list. She has 761.
UH opens up Big West play on Thursday at Cal State Fullerton.
