Ko Olina residents asked to conserve water while sewer main is fixed
Residents and businesses in Ko Olina are being asked to conserve water use as the city repairs a damaged pressurized sewer pipe, also called a force main.
Water users are asked to not excessively use toilets, sinks, dishwashers, washing machines and showers.
The city says residents are asked to conserve water through this evening.
A crew is working to repair the pipe at the West Beach No. 1 Wastewater Pump Station by extracting wastewater upstream and redirecting it downstream.
About 1,500 gallons of untreated wastewater was released Sunday afternoon when the 16-inch force main broke in the Ko Olina area.
City crews contained the spill and contacted agencies, including the state Health Department, to repair the break.
