Junior Seau’s nephew among Nevada recruits
RENO, Nev. >> Coach Brian Polian’s first recruiting class at Nevada is heavy on defense, including a star linebacker who is the nephew of future NFL Hall of Famer Junior Seau.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports Ian Seau is among 21 players who have verbally committed to Nevada.
Seau started his career at Kansas State. Last year, he was a junior college All-American at Southern California’s Grossmont College, where he had 25.5 tackles for loss and 18 sacks in 10 games.
The newspaper reports Nevada also landed Beau Hershberg, a star linebacker from Granite Bay, Calif. Scout.com says he’s one of the top 150 prospects on the West Coast.
Polian planned a formal announcement later Wednesday regarding players who have signed formal letters of commitment. He was hired in December after Chris Ault retired.
Polian’s recruits include Mililani High School offensive lineman Joey Anglemire.
