Mother of Kalani soccer standout dies of brain hemorrhage
Hiroyo Klink, mother of Kalani High School soccer standout Leo Klink, died today, three days after collapsing in the stands with a brain hemorrhage during Kalani’s state championship victory over Punahou.
Unaware that his mother was stricken, Leo Klink scored a goal in the overtime shootout to secure the championship. He was rushed to the hospital to see his mother immediately after the game.
Hiroyo Klink was the vice president, accountant and administrative coordinator of Media Etc., a Hawaii-based advertising and public relations company.
A trust fund has been established at Bank of Hawaii to help the Klink family. Donations can be made at any BOH branch to the “Leo Klink Fund.”
