Kauai police are investigating the cause of a single-vehicle crash tonight that sent one woman to the hospital, knocked out power and prompted the closure of a street in the Kapahi district.

According to police, a pickup truck veered onto the shoulder of Kaapuni Road around 6:50 p.m. Saturday and struck a utility pole, sheering it in half and causing a power outage in the immediate area.

Police closed the road pending repairs by a Kauai Island Utility Cooperative crew.

The female passenger of the truck was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Her condition was not disclosed. It is not known whether the male driver sustained any injuries from the crash.
