Jordan Stephens tossed a five-hitter with a career-high 10 strikeouts and No. 13 Rice handed Hawaii its sixth straight loss in a 3-1 victory Saturday afternoon at Les Murakami Stadium.

Adam Hurley’s two-out RBI single in the seventh scored Conner George to snap a 26-inning scoreless streak by the Rainbows, who are 0-6 for the first time in their NCAA history.

Connor Little (0-2) allowed two runs on eight hits in 7 1/3 innings and left with the tying run on third and one out.

Reliever Lawrence Chew got Keenan Cook to hit a grounder to third but Pi’ikea Kitamura’s throw to the plate sailed to the backstop, allowing Shane Hoelscher to score the go-ahead run.

Connor Tekyl added a two-out RBI single in the inning off Jon Flinn.

Stephens (1-1) allowed one run on five hits with one walk to record the first complete game of his career for the Owls (4-2).

Hurley had three of Hawaii’s five hits.
