Vikings finalize Harvin trade, release Winfield
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. >> The Minnesota Vikings have finalized their trade of unhappy wide receiver Percy Harvin to Seattle. They’ve also released veteran cornerback Antoine Winfield and re-signed right tackle Phil Loadholt.
General manager Rick Spielman confirmed the moves shortly after the NFL market officially opened Tuesday.
The Seahawks are sending their first-round and seventh-round draft picks this year plus their third-round selection in 2014 for Harvin, whose final season with the Vikings was a rocky one despite their surprise 10-6 record and spot in the playoffs.
The decision to let Winfield go was startling, given how well he played at age 35 last year.
Loadholt has been the Vikings starter at his position for his whole career, missing only one game in four seasons.
