Motorcyclist dies after crash on Ko Olina offramp
A motorcyclist apparently out for a scenic ride was killed in a crash near Ko Olina Friday afternoon.
Police said the crash occurred at the Farrington Highway offramp into the Ko Olina Resort area at about 12:09 p.m. The man lost control of his motorcycle, crashed and was ejected, said Lt. Robert Towne of the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division.
Paramedics took the man, in his 40s, in extremely critical condition to Pali Momi Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The man had been riding with another motorcyclist who was ahead of him, Towne said. When she looked back, she saw the man down and surrounded by motorists who had stopped to help him, he said.
Police closed the off ramp from Farrington Highway westbound to Aliinui Drive and the Ko Olina Resort area following the crash and reopened it at about 3:30 p.m.
