Police have opened an attempted murder and assault case following a fight early this morning on Keeaumoku Street.

Hospitalized following the stabbing was a 26-year-old man, who was listed in critical condition with stab wounds; and a 22-year-old man, whose condition was described as serious. Both men were taken by paramedics to the hospital at 4:22 a.m. The 22-year-old man has since been released from the hospital after being treated for cuts and abrasions.

Police said the two men were part of group of young men and women who got into fight with another group in the parking lot of the Keeaumoku McDonald’s restaurant at 910 Keeaumoku St. The dispute began on the Sheridan Street side of the parking lot, police said,

The fight then spilled over to the sidewalk on the Ewa side of Keeaumoku Street where the two men were allegedly stabbed by the suspect. The suspect then fled the scene. Police have not released a description of the suspect.

Police are trying to determine what sparked the confrontation between the two groups of people who apparently didn’t know each other. Police also are investigating reports that the suspect may have been injured during an earlier fight.
