Honolulu Fire Department rescue personnel assisted hikers in distress at three separate locations over a two hour span Saturday morning.
The first call came in around 9:45 a.m. at Diamond Head Crater, where a female visitor in her 50s injured her shoulder during a fall. Firefighters located the woman on the trail and attended to her until paramedics arrived.
At 10:20 a.m., firefighters were called to the Manoa Falls Trail to help a lost hiker.
According to HFD spokesman Capt. Gary Lum, the man, who was hiking with his dog, wandered off the trail and was unable to find his way out.
A HFD helicopter crew located the man and airlifted him and his dog to safety.
At 11:37 a.m., firefighters responded to an emergency call for an injured hiker near the summit of the Moanalua Valley Trail, where a male hiker had sustained a head injury from a fall. An HFD helicopter crew located the man and airlifted him to a landing zone on the Kaneohe side of the valley, where he was transferred to the care of paramedics.
