Grand jury indicts Haleiwa woman on animal cruelty charge
An Oahu grand jury indicted a Haleiwa woman on an animal cruelty charge today.
Andrea Fiegle, 36, is charged with felony cruelty to animals.
She remains free on $11,000 bail.
Honolulu police say Fiegle told them she cut the dog’s throat with a kitchen knife at her Paalaa Road home Sunday after losing her temper.
Circuit Judge Dexter Del Rosario denied prosecutor’s request to increase Fiegle’s bail to $50,000. He said if the state wants to commit Fiegle to the Hawaii State Hospital for mentally ill patients, there are other laws it can use to achieve that.
