Big surf continued to pummel south shores and is expected to stick around until midweek.

The National Weather Service extended the high surf advisory for south shores of all islands until 6 a.m. Monday.

South swell waves were in the 8- to 12-foot range Saturday, but were expected to drop to 6 to 10 feet Sunday. Oahu lifeguards performed 62 rescues and 95 assists Saturday, primarily at south shore beaches.

The current swell is expected to decline slowly today. But two new swells should keep surf high through the middle of the week.
