A 32-year-old woman wanted for an attempted murder in Makaha has been charged.

May Iwa Brewer, who gave police no local address, was arrested at 10:20 p.m. Saturday night in Kapolei.

Police had been looking for the 32-year-old after a shooting incident involving a 40-year-old woman May 19.

Police said the 40-year-old victim was seated in her vehicle on Farrington Highway in Makaha when she was approached by Brewer. Police say Brewer allegedly brandished a handgun, demanded money and struggled for the victim’s property.

During the struggle, the handgun went off and the victim was struck in her head. Brewer got into a nearby vehicle operated by an unknown male and drove off.

Brewer was charged Sunday with attempted murder and robbery in the first-degree.
