UH Wahine's Kaia Parnaby pitches against UC Santa Barbara in the 1st game of a double header on Saturday at the Wahine Rainbow Softball Stadium.

University of Hawaii pitcher Kaia Parnaby was named a third-team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association today.

Parnaby is the 11th UH player to make the NFCA All-America team.

The senior left-hander completed one of the most prolific seasons in the UH softball program’s history on her way to earning the Big West Pitcher of Year award and NFCA All-West Region first-team honors.

Parnaby led the nation in victories for much of the season and finished at 39-7, breaking the UH and Big West single-season wins records. She also established school and conference records for strikeouts in a season with 342. Her total ranks her fifth in Division I.

She threw 312 2/3 innings and appeared in 50 of UH’s 58 games with 48 starts. She tossed 13 shutouts and posted a 1.52 earned-run average while holding opponents to a .202 batting average.

Parnaby also broke UH’s single-game strikeout record with 17 against Syracuse in a relief appearance on March 16 and was named USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Week. She won Big West pitcher of the week honors five times this season.
