Man critically injured in fall near Makapuu Lookout
Division of Emergency Medical Services personnel transported a 27-year-old man who was critically injured this afternoon in an area across from the Makapuu Lookout, EMS reported.
The man was possibly hiking and fell from an unknown height, EMS reported. Injuries and circumstances are unknown, EMS said.
The incident occurred at 12:13 p.m.
Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Robert Main said fire rescue personnel responded to a report from hikers who saw the man lying 75 yards below the Tom Tom trail, a ridge trail, on the Hawaii Kai side of the ridge.
Rescue personnel reached the man by helicopter and found him conscious and breathing, but with multiple traumatic injuries.
The man was brought by the fire helicopter at 1:46 p.m. to an EMS ambulance at Makapuu and then taken to a hospital.
