A fire across the street from a Pearl City fire station displaced 15 people living in a four-unit building on Lehua Avenue, a Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said.

Crews responded quickly to the 10:30 p.m. fire since it was directly across the street from the station, said Fire Capt. Chris Ah Mook Sang.

Two walk-up, second story units were damaged by the fire, and two downstairs units had smoke and water damage, Ah Mook Sang said. One of the units was unoccupied,

Damage to the structure is estimated at $200,000, and about $20,000 worth of contents was lost, Ah Mook Sang said.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.

The Red Cross was called to assist the residents with housing and other needs.
