Firefighters investigate cause of Waikiki dumpster fire
It took firefighters just 13 minutes this morning to bring a fire in a dumpster outside of Waikiki’s Queen Kapiolani Hotel on Kapahulu Avenue under control.
No one was injured and none of the guests staying in the 315-room hotel had to be evacuated, said Capt. Terry Seelig, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman.
The fire at 150 Kapahulu Ave. was reported at 6:02 a.m. and was under control at 6:15 a.m.
The cause of the dumpster fire is under investigation. It did not cause any structural or internal damage to the 19-story hotel.
