Manoa man in fatal moped accident ID’d
The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 54-year-old man, who died last month after driving his moped into a telephone pole in Manoa, as James Young.
Police said Young, who had lived in Manoa, on July 14 was headed downhill on Woodlawn Drive near Alani Drive around 7:06 a.m. when he lost control of a white 2005 moped.
He suffered "massive head injuries" and was taken in extremely critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center, where he later died.
The Medical Examiner classified Young’s death as accidental and said he died of multiple blunt force injuries caused by the accident.
Police said the victim was not wearing a helmet and that no other vehicles appear to have been involved in the crash.
