An Oahu grand jury this morning indicted a Sacred Hearts Academy teacher for allegedly sexually assaulting a student in June.

William Plourde, 53, of McCully, was arrested Wednesday night after he turned himself in to police. Plourde remains in custody at Oahu Community Correctional Center unable to post $200,000 bond. A Circuit Court plea and arraignment hearing will be held once he is served with a bench warrant.

Plourde was arrested at a Date Street address on six counts of third-degree sexual assault and one count of first-degree sexual assault of a person at least 14 years old, but younger then 16 years old. He had called police saying he wanted to turn himself in. His alleged victim was 15 years old when the incident occurred in Plourde’s car at about 9 a.m. on June 6 in Mililani Mauka.

According to the documents, the girl told police that Plourde, who was her former homeroom teacher at the private school in Kaimuki, touched her breast and genital area over and under her clothing when she was in his car.
