Water service restored to Kaelepulu; 35 customers remain dry
The Board of Water Supply continues work on an 8-inch water main break at 525 Keolu Drive in the Kailua area that initially cut off water to Kaelepulu Elementary School and about 100 customers Tuesday afternoon.
The main break was reported at about 1:14 p.m. and was originally believed to be a 12-inch water main, but turned out to be a smaller main upon excavation, water officials said.
Two water wagons were sent to the area.
Repair crews will be working on the Kailua-bound side of Keolu Drive between Akea Place and Akiohala Street. One lane of traffic will be open in both directions. But motorists are advised to avoid the area, use alternate travel routes where possible, and to exercise caution if driving through the work area.
Crews are expected to work through this afternoon to restore water service.
