Two people were hospitalized in critical condition at Maui Memorial Medical Center following a two-car crash late Wednesday night in Kihei.

Maui police said a Wailuku man, 20, and his 19-year-old passenger from Pukulani were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following the 10:58 p.m. accident.

The 20-year-old man was driving a white 1995 Honda Civic sedan and was making a left turn from Piikea Avenue onto to Piilani Highway.

The Honda sedan collided with a grey 2006 Nissan Frontier pickup truck that was traveling north on Piilani Highway. The truck overturned, coming to rest on its passenger side in the northbound lane of the highway.

The driver of truck, a 30-year-old man from Kihei, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene and released, Maui police said.
