JERSEY CITY, N.J. >> The wind picked up and Kevin Stadler’s position didn’t change atop the leaderboard after the first round of The Barclays.

Stadler opened with a 7-under 64, a round that took 11 hours to complete because of two rain delays that lasted a total of six hours. Half the field completed the first round Friday morning.

Ben Crane reached 5-under until making bogey on the easy par-4 16th. On the final hole, Crane had to hit 3-wood for his second on the 489-yard hole. He wound up with a 67. Phil Mickelson had to settle for a 71.

Crane is No. 125 in the FedEx Cup and feels lucky to be at Liberty National. He has to move into the top 100 to advance to next week.
