Cody Mafatu Easterbrook of Laie is hoping online voting will win him the title of Chief World Explorer in a global contest staged by online vacation site Jauntaroo.com.

The winner out of 50 contestants chosen as finalists, will travel the world for a year and be paid $100,000 to document their experiences.

Easterbrook teaches second graders at Kahaluu Elementary School and serves as the master of ceremonies for the luau show at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, according to information he is distributing.

Easterbrook has sent out news releases seeking support from people online who go to the site, view contestant videos, and vote for their favorite.
