LIHUE » The mayor of Kauai County says he will seek another term.

The Garden Island reports Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. announced Saturday night he will run for a second full term in 2014.

Carvalho was elected in 2008 to a two-year term following the death of Mayor Bryan Baptiste.

He was elected to a four-year term in 2010.

The mayor says he wants to continue to promote affordable housing around Kauai.

He says a goal is to provide covered shelters for all Kauai Bus stops, expand feeder routes and continue efforts to create a resource recovery park.

He also says he wants to ensure that the island is sustainable.

Candidates can officially file from Feb. 3 to June 3.
