Man, 62, killed in single-vehicle crash near Ko Olina off-ramp

The 62-year-old man driving a truck was killed in a crash this afternoon near the Ko Olina offramp from the H-1 Freeway, police said.

Police Lt. Robert Towne of the Vehicular Homicide Section said the driver was the sole occupant of the truck and was heading to Waianae with a truck full of cement tile. Towne said the truck drifted from the center lane to the right shoulder where he hit a tree.

The crash happened at the off-ramp from the Waianae-bound lanes at about 4:10 p.m., according to an Emergency Medical Services report. The truck apparently hit a coconut tree, The driver was killed in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
