UH soccer’s Fujimoto makes All-Big West first team

Hawaii soccer junior forward Tiana Fujimoto was named to the All-Big West Conference first team announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Five other Rainbow Wahine players received recognition in the BWC postseason awards. Junior mid/forward Krystal Pascua, sophomore defender Lidia Battaglia and senior defender Chelsea Miyake were named BWC honorable mentions. Forward Kama Pascua and goalkeeper Monk Berger were named to the all-freshman team.

UH, which finished in a tie for fifth place at 3-4-1 in BWC play, did not receive any position player of the year awards or the coach of the year award. No UH players were named to the second team, as well.

Fujimoto scored 10 goals this season, including seven game-winners. That mark was second-best in the league, behind Offensive Player of the Year Elise Krieghoff of Cal Poly, who scored 21 times.

UH (8-8-1 overall) beat Cal State Northridge 2-0 in its season finale on Sunday, but just missed out on this week’s four-team BWC tournament.
