Wahine basketball team beats Ole Miss 79-63

Kamilah Jackson scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Shawna Kuehu added 19 points to lead the Hawaii women’s basketball team to a 79-63 defeat of Ole Miss on the second day of the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic Saturday.

Jackson shot 11-for-13 from the field and 8-for-10 from the free-throw line to get within one of her career-high of 31 points. Kuehu shot 8-for-12 from the field for a new career-best in points and grabbed eight rebounds.

UH seized control after the game was tied at 40 and the lead had exchanged hands 10 times.

Laura Beeman’s team shot 47.4 percent from the field to Old Miss’ 34.3 percent and outrebounded the Rebels 45-34.

The Wahine (3-1) play West Virginia today at 5 p.m. for the tournament title.
