Brushfire blackens 5 acres near Kekaha, Kauai
Kauai firefighters battled a brush fire that blackened about five acres along Kokee Road near Kekaha Sunday.
The fire, first reported around 3:30 p.m., and was brought under control by 5 p.m. and fully extinguished by 6:30 p.m., Kauai County said.
No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
Police closed the southbound lane of Kokee Road at the Waimea Canyon Drive junction and the northbound lane at Kaumualii Highway for approximately two hours.
