Lahaina beach closed after discovery of item resembling ordnance
Maui police are investigating the discovery of a metal container that resembles a type of ordnance in waters off a Lahaina beach today.
A male snorkeler brought the container to shore at D.T. Fleming Beach Park, police said in a news release. Police were notified at 12:37 p.m. today.
Police closed the beach and the adjacent parking lot as a precaution.
