Water service has been restored in Waimea after landslides Sunday night closed Menehune Road on Kauai, according to county officials..

Kauai police responding to scene after midnight found large boulders, tree branches and mud covering Menehune Road, just north of the Waimea Swinging Bridge. The fallen boulders, ranging from five to 15 feet in diameter, damaged a water main and obstructed nearby ditches, causing minor flooding.

The water main break resulted in a water outage for roughly 25 customers.

The landslide also damaged one home’s utility service line, causing that residence to go without power.

Officials alternated traffic along Menehune Road, while crews work to clear the roadway of debris.
