President Barack Obama is seen through the window of his motorcade vehicle as he is driven through the Kailua, Hawaii, neighborhood where he is spending his annual holiday vacation with his family, Monday en route to Makiki Valley Loop Trail in Honolulu to hike with family and friends.

President Barack Obama had a full day of activity on his tenth day of vacation, starting with his morning workout before dawn and ending the evening at dinner with friends at Alan Wong’s in McCully.

The president and first lady were joined by other couples for dinner at one of Obama’s favorite restaurants at about 8 p.m.

The Obama’s have dined at Alan Wong’s every year during his annual vacation and Wong has also cooked at the White House.

Before dinner, Obama went for a morning round of golf with friends at the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club in Maunawili, followed by a hike with his family on the Makiki Valley Loop trail.

The first family and friends started the 2.5 mile hike at about 3:38 p.m., after the president returned to their Kailua home from golf and returned to their vacation home in Kailua at about 5:37 p.m.

The president and his family hiked the Manoa Falls trail on Thursday.

Obama started his morning golf round just after 9 a.m., dressed in a white shirt and  baseball cap.

His golf partners today were Hawaii friends Bobby Titcomb and Mike Ramos; Chicago friends Marty Nesbitt, Dr. Eric Whitaker, aide Marvin Nicholson, White House chef Sam Kass; and newcomer Andrew Dibble, who is apparently another friend from Chicago.

The group played for about five hours before returning to the Kailua vacation home at about 2:35 p.m.

This was the sixth golf outing for the president on this vacation. He teed off yesterday at the Kaneohe Klipper course on the nearby Marine base. He’s also played at the Mid-Pacific Country Club and the Koolau Golf Course.

He’s golfed before at the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club, formerly known as Luana Hills, in 2011 and in 2009, when his game was cut short when Whitaker’s son suffered a minor injury during a beach outing and the president’s group left the course to attend to him.

With the morning tee time, the president’s usual morning workout began before dawn. Obama arrived at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii gym at about 6:50 a.m. and he returned to his vacation home at about 7:47 a.m.

Before golfing, White House officials said Obama was briefed today on back-to-back deadly attacks in Russia as the country prepares to host the Winter Olympics in February. At least 31 people were killed in the separate explosions at a railway station and on a bus in Volgograd, which lies about 400 miles away from the site of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

A White House spokeswoman said the United States would welcome "closer cooperation" with Russia on security preparations for the games.

Obama’s campaign arm, Organizing for Action, also sent an email to supporters with the president’s first name at the bottom saying the nation was turning a corner on health care Jan. 1 and "never going back."
