Sunny skies expected today, but rains coming Tuesday

    A few rain clouds north of the state may be blown in to windward and mauka sections of the islands Monday, but skies are expected to be mostly sunny until Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Sunny skies and cool nights are expected today. But vog and rain is on the way once the work week starts on Tuesday, National Weather Service forecasters say.

A cold front is expected to move over the state Tuesday and Wednesday.

Winds will become light Monday and southwesterly on Tuesday as the cold front approaches.

A few rain clouds north of the state may be blown in to windward and mauka sections of the islands Monday, but skies are expected to be mostly sunny until Tuesday afternoon and evening.

The forecast for Honolulu calls for volcanic haze to move over Oahu Tuesday afternoon. There’s a 70 percent chance of rain Tuesday night and a 90 percent chance of rain in Honolulu Wednesday, when a huge northwest swell is also expected to bring warning-level surf to the north shore.

Temperatures at night will be in the 60s for most of the week.
