Woodshop fire in Nuuanu causes $180,000 in damages
A fire to a woodshop at a Nuuanu home early Sunday morning caused $180,000 in damages said Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig.
The fire happened at 3:47 a.m. at the end of Gartley Place in Nuuanu, about 40 to 50 feet from the Pali Highway. Firefighters hosed down the flames from the highway.
Neighbors called 911 after smelling smoke but didn’t know where it was coming from. The fire was under control within 11 minutes after firefighters arrived.
The house next to the woodshop was not affected by the fire but was exposed to some radiated heat, Seelig said.
